Herbology/Care of Magical Creatures: Lesson 1: All ages

Atreus sat down and tapped her fingers on her desk.

Being French, she wrote on the board, Je M'appelle Professor Williams.

She then sat back down as the children piled in. She looked at them with a deep, contemplating, look.

".......Well. I'm Professor Williams, then." She said, voice cracking.

"Today we'll be learning a bit about.... Mandrakes. Any of you know anything?" She asked raising an eyebrow quizically.

Logan raised a tentative hand.

"Well, before the plants are fully grown, the cry of a Mandrake can knock you out for several hours. However, when they are fully matured, the cry of one can kill you. They can be used to make the Mandrake restorative drought, to restore those who had been petrified."

Then he shut his mouth, promptly.

"Yes!" She thrilled. "Brilliant!"

She sat on her desk and eyed the students.

"Well. Today we'll be re-potting Mandrakes."

She let out a smile as she passed out earmuffs and gloves.

"Anybody want to give your classmates some tips on not passing out?"

It always happens. One of them will hear a cry and boom. Faint-City.

Riley smiled at Logan as she slipped the gloves on and then the earmuffs.

Not really knowing what to say, she simply looked towards the Mandrake.

"Keep your earmuffs on?" She said sarcastically leaning her head on her arm.

With a slight chuckle Atreus slipped her protection on.

"Yes, I do believe we should." She smiled at the girl and grasped a Mandrake.
Then she ripped it out of the pot and plopped it down into another after a three second shriek filled the room.

One of the children looked like they were going to faint, and she took her to sit down.

"Now, all of you have a try! Grasp your Mandrake, then Pull! And quickly shove it into another pot. But rub some dirt near it, you want them to keep warm."

Riley awkwardly put her hands around the Mandrake and pulled up quickly dropping it into another pot.

She scuffed some dirt around it, squinting her eyes and somehow trying to block out whatever part of the cry seeped through her earmuffs.

"Don't be shy now, there's plenty for everyone to try."

She smiled and picked an apple off of her desk biting into it and fingering her wand.
