DADA: Chapter 2--ALL AGES

"We'll be learning about Boggarts today," Rachel stated calmly, and gestured to the chest sitting on the floor.

"Now, does anyone know what a Boggart is?"

Victoria's hand punched the air.

"A Boggart is a magical creature with the ability to shape-shift into an individual's worst fear!"

Riley shifted uncomfortably.

Oh, Haha, great. I knew i smelled death in the atmosphere....

She started thinking and couldn't help wondering what her fellow students were afraid of.

Wait.. She looked around the room. Wheres the guys? Unusual..

Oh, Boggarts...this is actually pretty advanced magic!

Adrianna looked back from her seat and grinned at Riley and Victoria, noticing they were the only oter two students in the room, so far.

Riley returned Adrianna's grin with a small smile.

All of a sudden i've got a bad feeling about this....

She sinked down in her seat nervously.

She had never even told victoria what she was afraid of.

Nobody knew. But, today they would. Dreadfully, Riley stared at the chest on the ground and closed her eyes. Thinking.

Remembering...

Logan slipped into the room quietly, sitting down by Victoria and Riley.

Of course, I had to get lost!

Riley glanced at Logan and mouthed, Where were you?

It better not have anything to do with Tyler Morgan..

Riley thought.

Tell you later, Logan mouthed.


What are we doing?

Boggarts. Riley pointed to the chest on the floor.

Shifting positions uneasily she flashed him a nervous glance.

"Now, what really finishes a Boggart is laughter. But today we are focusing on a spell, called 'Riddikulus'. Now, who would like to go first?"

Rachel looked around the room.

"Ah, Miss Carver, is it?"

Gahh, What!? Riley eyed the teacher warily and stood up.

"I guess.." She muttered quietly, not really ready to let her fellow students know what she feared the most.

Logan bit his lip.

C'mon....she'll do fine! Why are you so worried?

Here goes everything.. She told herself, looking at the professor.

Maybe If I stall..

Riley thought, glaring at the chest as if it were her worst enemy, which in fact, it was.

"Go on," Rachel prompted gently as she sensed the girl's reluctance.

Riley closed her eyes and before she knew it a long leg stepped out from the chest. Followed by it was a mess of brown hair with a sly grin.

When she glanced backwards she felt a bit embarrased. She was looking at herself, The thing she feared the most in the world, was herself.

Clamming up, Riley froze.

No...No.. She told herself.

"Riddikulus." She said loudly, wand lashed, all of her energy focused on the boggart.

In a few seconds the boggart was turned into a funny-looking mime.

Laughter clouded over Riley's embarrasement, and she skulked back to her seat, face covered.

Logan froze slightly.

His only concern was for Riley. She looked shaken, upset.

He walked over to her and sat down next to her, taking her hand in his.

Riley smiled slightly, still rather embarrassed.

Why do I fear myself? Is it my bloodline..? It Can't be..

"Hey.." She said quietly, voice cracking as she spoke.

"You did great." Logan murmured quietly to her.

Riley shrugged.

"I don't know.." She muttered sheepishly.

"Hey, I would've completely freaked out," Logan assured her, still holding her hand.

Riley laughed a bit, smiling.

"Well, You certainly know how to cheer me up."

Rachel smiled slightly.

"Interesting. Very good, Miss Carver."

She glanced at the students occupying the room.

"Now...Mr. Ragan?"

Logan whipped around.

ME?

He got up and slowly walked to the front, squeezing his eyes shut.

Don't wanna do this, don't wanna do this.

Riley worriedly pulled at her hair.

First her, Now Logan? It was like the professor was purposely doing this.

And Riley had no idea why. She just hoped he'd do better than she did, and nothing bad would happen to him.

She watched him walk up to the front in silence, and her leg started shaking nervously.

God please let this go down alright. Please.. Please....

Riley almost wanted to walk right up and drag him back to his seat, but she refrained from doing so by clasping her hands over her eyes and peeking briefly, Just to make sure.

Okay Riley, you can stop worrying now.. She told herself, still watching him, biting her lip in nervousness.

Rachel brushed her hair over her ear, watching as the boy got ready to face THE Boggart. She had to admit that it was an interesting lesson.
