Hot Chocolate

Riley sat in Diane's Diner, sipping Hot Chocolate with her sister next to her.

"Man, No Marshmallows? What a rip-off.."

"I came prepared!" Her sister cheered pulling out a big bag of mini marshmellows

"YES!" Riley screamed snatching the bag and ripping it open, marshmallows flying everywhere.

She picked up a handful and dumped them in the cocoa with a splash.

"Perfection."

"Great," Her sister said "Marshmellows everywhere!"

"No, Look." riley said pointing to little puppies running around eating them, dragging their owners around the diner.

"It's a Dog Festival." Riley said beaming.

"5 second rule," Lucinda said taking the bag and putting some in her coco. letting the dogs eat the marshmallows.

"Oh my god.."

Riley saw a man across the diner reading the Daily Prophet, and on the front page was a photo of their mom... In Azkaban.

"Look...." She said pointing towards the headline.

Crazy Carver; Convicted Due to Murder

"What happened?" Lucinda said putting down the marshmallows

there mom was always crazy in the noggin.

But murder??

"Come on." Riley said, glancing at the man before dragging her sister out of the diner after her.

She quickened her pace on the sidewalk.

"If mom is in Azkaban, She's done something terrible. She's ruined the Carver name once, and I'm not standing for it a second time."

Riley's eyes turned dark with pure hatred.

"Down with the queen." She said, pulling a Burger King crown out of a trash bag and stomping on it.

"Yeah!" She said stomping on the crown after she did.

Always 2nd to go.

"Wait, How are we going to do this...? We're not just going to kill our mother..."

Riley pondered the situation for a moment.

"I'm out of ideas."

"We should finish our coco." She said grabbing her mug.

Riley nodded, seeing the man carrying the Daily Prophet glare at them and walk in their direction.

Riley gulped, seeing him angrily grasping the paper, huffing and puffing when he started running towards them.

"SCREW THE COCO!" Riley said throwing the mug at him.

There was a sizzle as it hit him in the face.

"RUN!!!!"

"Not the coco!" She said running with her sister.

She really wanted some coco...

"Forget it, We can get more later!" Riley said skidding around the corner, knocking over a trashcan.

"BUSH!!!" Riley yelled, leaping over the square-shaped topiary.

The man was sprinting behind them, sweating like there was no tomorrow.

Man, this guy must not be very active. Riley thought, running up black stairs past a fire escape.

The man chased after her and when they reached the roof..... She jumped.

A stupid thing to do. Very stupid indeed.

But she closed her eyes briefly as her hands came into contact with the edge of the next building over.

I actually made it??

She gripped onto the side of the building, holding on for dear life, praying her sister was smart enough to keep running instead of following her.

Lucinda ran from the guy

Active fat guy she thought

She ran up the backstairs to the fire escape and jumped from the roof.

"I MADE IT!" She cheered when she landed on the next building over.

Riley's knuckles were turning white from holding on, and she pulled herself up.

She'd almost lost her life, and the man was throwing a fit on the other building, ripping up the paper and dancing on it.

Panting breathlessly, Riley collapsed on the rooftop.

That was her second near-death experience.

And she was NOT going to have a third.

Closing her eyes, she passed out from exhaustion, and lay sprawled out on the roof... Having not run like that since gym at her muggle school.

"Riles," Lucinda said running over to Riley

"Riley wake up!" She said shaking her

"WAKE UP!" she screamed smacking her across the face because she was scared out of her pants.

"MAYONAISE!!!" Riley yelled slapping her sister back and standing up brushing herself off.

"I got you." She said with a sly smile.

"OW!" She screamed

"Mayo?" She asked looking at her sister dumbfounded.

Riley rolled her eyes, "Yes, Mayo."

She glanced at the other building.

The strange man was gone.

"Let's go." She said leading her sister down the stairwell to go back to the diner, but at that moment, their path was blocked by the man, and he was holding a wand.

"You Carver's, " He rasped, practically choking on his words, " Die today." He finished angrily, wand raised about to speak.

Riley lashed her own wand out.

"Expelliarmus!" She yelled, smiling proudly as the man's wand flew out of his hand and rolled down the stairs.

He tried to throw a punch, but Riley was prepared.

"Stupify!" She yelled, sending him flying back down the stairs.

"Let's go." she said running, stepping on the man as she ran past him.

The girls made it to Lucinda's safe house, A abandoned lot downtown

"Hungry?" She asked going to the fridge she stocked and stocked with food.

"How can you eat at a time like this?"

Riley asked, pacing the floors and peeking out the window every few seconds.

"I think we lost him when that car hit him. Do you think he got up after that?"

"You don't think?" She asked thinking it was there dear old mom coming to slice them into cubed fruit.

Riley shrugged, amused by her sister's sarcastic words.

"I'm a wreck."

She said sitting on the sofa covered with a sheet, and holding her legs, curled up.... Watching... Waiting.
