We're on the run

Victoria sat slumped in a tree, breathing slightly hard. Her shoulder hurt horribly. It felt like it was on fire. Thoughts raced through her mind as she groggily pondered details..details, details...

Is this the way it's going to be from now on? I just want to be back at the academy and forget this whole thing ever happened...

Fang helped Victoria to gently climb down from the tree. A small stream trickled through the trees, and he helped her to sit down by it, gently peeling away the part of her t-shirt where she was injured.

"The bullet didn't get stuck in your shoulder. You should be okay..."

He trailed off and cupped some of the clear stream water in his hands, pouring it on her shoulder.

Victoria cringed slightly as the cold water touched her skin. She half expected to hear her skin sizzling, because it felt so hot.

"Fang...answer me truthfully, alright? Am I going to lose my arm, or something? I'm not a sissy. I want to know what's going on...well, if you can tell me. What's going to happen?"

Riley brushed through the forest in search of Fang and Victoria.

"Birmingham!!!??" She yelled, stepping into a patch of poison ivy.

"HOLY CRAP!" She yelled clinging to the tree.

"Don't touch the underside of the leaves.. Or the stems." she reminded herself, walking lightly past it.

With a sigh of relief, she pressed on, "Victoria!!?? FANG!!!??? BIRMINGHAM!!!!????"

Fang sat in thoughtful silence. He had just discovered a whole new side to Victoria. Even if she was afraid, she didn't hold on to the illusion of safety. He respected that deeply.

Without warning, he leaned in and kissed her.


When they broke away, he acted like it had never happened and said quietly, "I don't know."

Riley tripped over a log and fell through a bush, and when she looked up, she saw Fang kiss Victoria.

Her jaw dropped silently, and she froze.

Holy Nicholas Cage.. She thought, eye's huge.

Victoria felt almost electric energy and adrenaline course through her. Then Fang had pulled away, and it was over.

She sat in stunned silence as the horrid pain in her shoulder returned, wondering if she should say anything as she swallowed hard and nodded.

"We should move," Fang said finally, getting to his feet. He ripped one of the sleeves to his shirt and wrapped it gingerly around Victoria's shoulder wound. Then they started to walk away into the trees in silence.

Skylar ran up to Riley with the little girl on her back.

"You left me alone with a child....Not a good idea." Sky said "Anyways, we gotta get outta here, those people are chasing us."

"Guys!" Lucinda said wheeling in a wheel chair. "I think there's somthing in common with all of this!"

"Hello little girl!" She said.

Victoria nodded and followed Fang deeper into the trees.

Riley ran after Victoria after seeing the whole kiss scenario happen, "TORIA! FANG!"

Skylar ran after Riley

"RILETAAAAA!" She yelled

Riley turned around on an impulse, "Stay with Luci and protect the girl And stop calling me that." She said, turning back around and feeling the ground.

"They went this way." She said to herself, darting off in their direction.

"Okay, Luci Goosey, what do with do now?" Sky asked Luci

Riley followed the trail until they were in sight, and sprang out from the bushes, tackling Fang and screaming, "You kissed my best friend!!!!"

She smirked, "Nice." And walked over to Victoria, "Haaayyyyy."

Victoria finally slumped into a different tree on the other side of the forest. Her injury had made her exhausted, not to mention her hunger.

"Riley!" she screamed, whipping around and expecting to find more dangers but seeing her best friend.

"What are you DOING here?! I don't want you to get hurt!"

"Dude I almost got disected, and i'm not asking for your permission."

She looked at Victoria's shoulder, "Why are you out here?? What is this Tarzan and Jane?"

"I got shot so, I'm not afraid." she said wheeling into the picture in her wheel chair.

Riley raised an eyebrow.

"Dang Luci i told you to stay back there." She said, biting her lip.

"What?!?" she said her bone STILL popped out of her body.

"Can I get a cast now?" she asked.

Riley nodded, picking her sister up and setting her on the grass, "I cant give you a cast, but i can do this oldschool."

She grabbed a stick, took her her stringy headband, and ripped the sleeves from her shirt, wrapping them around her wound, tying it tight with the headband.

"That feels so much better!" She exclaimed.

"So why was riley going Holy Nicholas Cage?" She asked smirking

She blushed slightly and stared at the ground.

"I just don't want you guys to get hurt," she muttered finally. "Those things want to kill us."

"Also they are the ones who gave you wings." She added.
